Finding Equilibrium and Flow
A weekend of somatic research and movement
The organ of equilibrium sits in the skull and interestingly is part of the same organ for hearing! It is bathed in the same 2 fluids that are connected through a maze of membranes and sensing organs, that can measure the pressure, flow and relationship between these two. Hairs stick out into the fluid and register and connect to nerves which inform our brain and connect this with proprioceptive information of our joints and muscles.
How this organ sits in our skull is so interesting: we will explore the inner space in our skull and the amazing sphenoid bone, which looks like a butterfly!
These somatic explorations will allow you to research your own relationship to your inner balance & connection to space, momentum and timing.
How to find balance, how to regain it.
When in our development did we thrive on being off balance?
Then we will follow these fluids to all the different manifestations of fluid in our tissues, our cell and those traveling, like blood and lymph.
What is possible in your dance or your life if you had ways to get to inner balance and outer flow?
Come ready to move, explore and learn anatomy to inspire! This is a special opportunity to study with Christine Cole on the East Coast. Thank you Jungwoong Kim and Leah Stein for the invitation!
